This northern district of Kerala is full of rivers, sub-tropical savannah, evergreen forests and other natural sights and sounds. Parts of it come under the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
The elevation ranges from 700m to 2,100m above sea level. Mysore and Coorg districts of Karnataka form its northern boundary. To the east is Tamil Nadu, and to the south is Malappuram district and on the west, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Agriculture forms the mainstay of the district’s mainstay, with the focus on tea, coffee and spices plantation.
Wayanad is a land of tribals. Tribal feasts, dances and conventions still exist in Wayanad. On a typical visit, you can stop over in a tribal settlement and get to know their lifestyle and culture.
